Artifacts of the Past - Ancient Mysteries is an interesting hidden-object game with an investigation theme. In this case, you play Dr. Artifact, who is hired by a museum to discover ancient mysteries. The story of the game is told by means of dialogues between a detective and Dr. Artifact, in which you will be given instructions to follow.
You will visit different scenes playing hidden-object games and uncovering great stories. Some games involve just looking for objects on a list, and others require you to find pieces of objects and assemble them to later use them in a scene. If you can't find an object in a scene, you can use the hints. Here, they are unlimited and you have to wait a while until you can use another one. There's also a magnifying glass to look closer and a feature that enables you to change the objects to find in the list. The latter can be used only once per game and only works with hidden-object games in which you are given a list of objects.
The game includes two difficulty modes: Easy and Normal, and they vary in the number of objects to find and in the time hints take to recharge. Both modes are untimed and there are no penalties for random clicking, which makes it really easy for experienced players.
In between these games, there are also skippable mini games related to the mystery in question and they include a great variety of puzzles, spot-the-difference games, etc.
The game offers pretty good graphics, although they are not extremely detailed. However, the recreation of the ancient locations is pretty well done. Sounds are average and the music is fine.
In short, Artifacts of the Past: Ancient Mysteries is just another hidden-object game which offers an interesting story and enjoyable gameplay that will surely attract many fans of this genre.
